From the Bay to the Badge to the Blessing: A Journey Toward True Significance
Ed Horner’s life reads like the tides of the Chesapeake—always moving, always testing, always shaping the man he would become. Growing up in a family of Watermen on Deal Island, Ed learned early that real success requires hard work, resilience under pressure, and the weight of responsibility.
Those lessons carried him into a demanding career as a Maryland State Policeman and later an Undercover Narcotics Agent, overseeing operations across one‑third of the state. The work was intense—danger, stress, and split‑second decisions that changed lives. His service earned him two Governors Citations, but it also carried a cost every man who has ever shouldered heavy responsibility understands.
After 19 years in law enforcement, Ed and his wife Doris took a bold risk that reshaped their future. They bought an abandoned gas station near Ocean City and transformed it into a thriving seafood market and 325‑seat restaurant that generated more than $50 million in sales over 23 years. By every measure, Ed had become the kind of leader and entrepreneur many men aspire to be.
But the true turning point of Ed’s life didn’t happen in a patrol car or a boardroom. It happened on Father’s Day, 33 years ago, when he surrendered his life to Christ. That moment reshaped everything—his marriage, his business, his leadership, and his legacy.
Ed’s faith also fueled a deep commitment to ministry through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and ministries for veterans. From the opening day of duck season to the final sunrise of winter, Ed has organized an annual hunt designed to bless donors and volunteers. He and Doris minister through hospitality, and those who stay at “Horner Farm” leave not as guests but as friends. Ed is a sincere, Jesus‑loving outdoorsmen, sharing the Gospel by giving his life and living it alongside others.
Join us for breakfast as Ed shares how a daily relationship with Jesus Christ became the anchor that steadied his life and carried him through difficult circumstances. His story challenges every man to rethink success—and pursue a life of true significance.
