Our Sage for the Evening: Thomas Welch
Tom’s expertise spans managing large facility portfolios and addressing complex environmental challenges to drive operational effectiveness. Tom’s early career was as an Air Force Civil Engineering officer serving in multiple roles and locations retiring as a field grade officer. His current “multi-hatted” position is as a Senior Regional Principal with the world’s seventh-largest Engineering Consulting firm include being COO of a Joint Venture supporting a $1.5B Federal Contract, managing a 35-person Business Unit, and leading the Firms $15M Air Force program.
He holds dual undergraduate degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering, along with multiple master’s degrees including Systems Management, Engineering Management, and Seminary studies. Throughout his career, Tom has earned more than a dozen professional certifications and registrations. A published author, he has written two textbooks and contributed over twenty peer-reviewed articles to his field.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tom has been married to his wife Dawn for over 40 years. Together, they’ve raised three adult children and delight in their seven grandchildren. Tom has actively served in numerous church roles, including Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Men’s Ministry Leader. He and Dawn have ministered as lay-leaders with Cru-Military and, for the past nine years, Tom has led teams with Christian Businessmen’s Connection (CBMC).
The couple resides in Indian Trail, where their commitment to faith, family, and community continues to inspire those around them.
