Ramon Dominguez
Ramon Dominguez is widely regarded as one of the finest jockeys of his generation. Born in Venezuela, he began riding professionally as a teenager before coming to the United States, where he quickly established himself as one of the sport’s elite riders.
Known for his exceptional horsemanship, integrity, and consistency, Dominguez earned more than 4,900 career victories and was a three-time Eclipse Award winner as the nation’s Outstanding Jockey (2010, 2011, and 2012). He also captured multiple riding titles at some of the country’s premier racetracks, including Belmont Park, Saratoga Race Course, and Aqueduct.
Following a career-ending injury sustained in a racing accident in 2013, Dominguez retired from riding. His remarkable achievements and lasting impact on Thoroughbred racing were recognized with his induction into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2016.
Beyond his accomplishments in the saddle, Ramon has devoted himself to serving the racing community. He faithfully served as President of the New York Race Track Chaplaincy for a decade, helping strengthen its mission of caring for the spiritual, emotional, and practical needs of the backstretch community.
Today, he serves as the Executive Director of the Jockeys’ Guild Education Foundation (JGEF), a newly established organization dedicated to empowering professional jockeys through education. The Foundation provides scholarships, personalized academic guidance, and practical skills training, equipping riders with the tools to build financial security and meaningful career opportunities both during and after their riding careers.
Ramon Dominguez’s life is a testament to excellence, humility, perseverance, servant leadership, and faith. His continued commitment to investing in the lives of others has made him not only a Hall of Fame jockey, but also a respected mentor and leader whose influence extends far beyond the racetrack.
