OUR FEATURED SPEAKER...

Justo Jay-Mentor-Salvation Army/Father of John Jay-former Major League Baseball outfielder and coach

Justo Enrique Jay is a Cuban-American best known as the father of former Major League Baseball outfielder and coach Jon Jay. Jay immigrated from Cuba to the United States as a child and grew up in Miami during the height of the city’s turbulent cocaine-trafficking era of the 1970s and 1980s. He later became involved with the notorious South Florida drug organization led by Willy Falcon and Sal Magluta, often associated with the “Cocaine Cowboys” era. In 1988, Jay was indicted on federal drug trafficking charges and ultimately served approximately 19 years in federal prison after being convicted in North Carolina.

Following his release in 2007, Jay’s life took a dramatically different direction. He has spoken publicly about redemption, faith, and second chances, sharing his testimony through churches, men’s groups, and community organizations. Jay has also been associated with outreach and recovery efforts connected to organizations including The Salvation Army, using his experiences to mentor others and encourage personal transformation. His story gained renewed public attention through the Netflix documentary series Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami, which chronicled the rise and fall of the Miami cocaine trade and featured several figures connected to that era.
